Japan could have another Orfevre on their hands both in talent and quirky racing tendencies. On Sunday classy three year old Duramente exhibited these to win the G1 Satsuki Sho - Japan's 2,000 Guineas. Described as head strong and difficult to hand by his trainer, Duramente veered and lost ground but on straightening fired all pistons to post a length and a half victory reminiscent of the horse that should have won an Arc but didn't because of similar racing mannerisms, Orfevre. Hopefully connections learn from the Orfevre experience and get this colt's attitude sorted cause the Arc will be at his mercy.
