Storm leaves Haggas to join Waller in Australia
STORM THE STARS, third to Golden Horn in the Derby and runner-up in the Irish equivalent, will continue his career in Australia having left William Haggas to join Chris Waller.
The three-year-old emerged as top-class performer throughout the summer, progressing from winning a Leicester maiden in April to placing in two Classics and taking third in the Grand Prix de Paris.
He then won the Great Voltiguer Stakes at York and was sent off joint-favourite for the Ladbrokes St Leger, finishing fourth.
Haggas thinks Storm The Stars has the right qualities to be a star in Australia, and said on Thursday: "It was a mutual agreement, I was very much for it as well. It's an exciting venture for the owner [Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum], it's his first horse out there.
"Storm The Stars is a very talented, tough and sound horse and I think he'll do really well there. I think he could be a champion and I hope he is."
