Stephanie’s Kitten Sold Privately To Japan
According to The Blood-Horse,
Ken and Sarah Ramsey struck a deal today regarding the mare Stephanie’s
Kitten with Northern Farm of Japan, owned by the Yoshida family. The
Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf Champion was sold privately for $2.8
million after being bought back for $2.95 million the previous evening
at the Fasig-Tipton November sale.
Mr. Ramsey told The Blood-Horse that he “saw the sale was
down last night and that only one horse in the sale brought $3 million,
so I thought that was where the market is now and accepted the offer.”
Ramsey had been considering keeping the 6-year-old earner of $4.29
million and breeding her himself, but ultimately accepted the Yoshida’s
offer as a “business decision.” He had offered Stephanie’s Kitten at
last year’s Fasig-Tipton November sale, but declined to sell at $3.95
million, and went on to win over $1.6 million with her this year.
