Phil Georgeff at Arlington Park.  To me he was the Jack Brickhouse of horse racing.   Secondly, Dave Johnson "And Down the Stretch They Come".

Sent from Samsung Galaxy Note4: Thank you Don for validating my beloved Dads opinions concerning Mr.Georgeff.After talking to GT,who had never heard of Mr.Georgeff? I sent him this link. The man made the Guiness book of World Records,he called more races than any announcer in the history of the Game. But GT explained the reason he had never heard of him is bc he is a born n bred Easterner, smilez. Watch "John Henry: "A Living Legend" - 1984 Arlington Million" on YouTube * Calling the AP Million with his original "Here they come spinning outta the turn". And one of my Dad's fave Ponies.

Nice voice and call from your boy Cat, but John Henry didn't really "spin out of the turn", he attacked it like a war horse with his perfect stride. This easterner doesn't have the long term love affair with Denman, but I will give him props for being in {West Coast Perk} Columbo, Beverly Hills 90210, AND THE SIMPSONS, among other roles.

Oh yeah I remember Trevor's voice was on 90210. I think a young Corey Nakatani came out in that episode too I think. Brandan, Steve and Andrea were at Santa Anita during that episode with the guy that owned the Peach Pit (forgot his name). Andrea was picking winners in that episode.

The guy at Fair Grounds today was pretty awful. He was calling horses as contenders in the stretch that never hit the board, plus a few he didn't call that did!

Battaglia Ready To ‘Ease Out’ Of Racecalling

Battaglia Ready To ‘Ease Out’ Of Racecalling

Mike Battaglia Mike Battaglia

Racecaller Mike Battaglia told the Daily Racing Form that he is “starting to ease out” of the post he has held since 1972. Those listening to Turfway Park on Saturday night might have expected to hear the veteran's easily recognizable voice over the loudspeakers, but instead heard Jimmy McNerney, the long-time jockey agent who will begin to call one or more programs per week at the Northern Kentucky track this winter.

Battaglia intends to continue making the morning line odds for both Churchill Downs and Keeneland, but wants to scale down on the announcing because it has gotten tough for him at 66 years of age. He told DRF that “You have to stay mentally sharp, with no hesitation. We've been getting a lot of 12-horse fields here (at Turfway) and they're not easy, especially at night.”

Over the course of his career, Battaglia called races at Churchill Downs from 1977 to 1996, the old Miles Park in Kentucky, and did a large amount of work with television network NBC regarding horse racing. He said, “It's been a great run, but at some point you have to say it's time.”
